Wema, meaning “goodness” in Swahili, is a community-based school founded in 2008 in Western Kenya. Wema Children’s Centre was established to give poor and orphaned children a home and high quality education. Children are provided with a loving home, three nutritious meals a day, an onsite medical clinic, and an education at one of the highest performing schools in Kenya.
Wema Children’s Centre has contributed to the betterment of the Western Kenya community, conducting operations primarily in Bukembe Village.
Wema is a partner of The School Fund who finds sponsors for children at Wema Children’s Centre.
Wema partners with a number of universities across the US, including Harvard, the University of Texas, and University of Southern California.
